  It works as advertised. A bit Ugly but functional. My fat cat eats more now with this auto feeder.

  The reason I chose this feeder was because it shipped next day and I needed it quick before i went out of town. So I can't say I chose this one because I thought it was the best. But it works as it's supposed to so I have no complaints, other than that it's a bit ugly in design. It was fairly uncomplicated to set up. I had to read the manual a few times and push the buttons a few times to get it right but once I set it, it was done. Setup took about 10 minutes (given that I was learning how to do it). I did record a voice memo that plays twice at each feeding, once before releasing the food, and once after. I'm used to it now but it can be embarrassing if someone is over and hears you cooing to your pet on the recorded voice memo. I hope the automatic feeder continues to work because I am leaving for a few weeks and am depending on this to keep my cat alive. My fat cat who has an overeating problem (she's a rescue) eats more now because the feeder drops a little too much food. I have it set 4x a day at 2 portions per serving. I guess this is too much because she's gained weight. But if I feed her less, she mews and mews like she's starving and she starts peeing in stuff and clawing the plants to get my attention. So for my sanity, and to keep my home urine-free, I just succumb to this current feeding schedule and portion size. The thing is that she gets really excited every time the food drops and runs to the bowl to devour all the kibble. Anyway, now I am getting a camera to monitor my cat while I'm out of town, but I see that some automatic feeders have cameras built in to them. I do wish I'd had the foresight 2 months ago when I bought my feeder to know that I should buy one with a camera in it too instead of having to buy one separately but it's too late now. Maybe some of you reading this review will consider this factor in purchasing an automatic feeder. So far, 2 months later, this purchase is solid. It works. No problems yet. Fingers crossed.

  Works great but the freshness packs that need to be replaced biweekly are expensive.

  I bought this because I after I moved out of my parents house my cat decided I had to get up at 5:30 every morning to feed him like my mother who worked early hours used to. This was not happening, tried to retrain the cat but he knew exactly what he should knock over every morning to get me out of bed. So it was Auto feeder or kill the cat. I love my cat so I bought this in a fit of desperation. It works like a dream. My cat's kibble was not too large so it dispenses well. I had seen a lot of reviews saying it didn't consistently drop food so I was sure to keep an eye on it the last few weeks but aside from the times the cat and dog unplugged it and I needed to reset it it has worked very faithfully. I don't use the voice feature (I find that wholly unnecessary for my personal usage) so I can't comment on that but the meal portion and timing features are very simple and easy to set up. Everything comes apart making it very easy to clean and the locking feature is nice to have since I would never put learning to push a button for food past my tiny monster.My biggest gripe with this product is the freshness pack that goes in the top of the food storage space on the feeder. Instructions recommend replacing them every two weeks and only one is included with the set. Looking online it cost over $17 dollars to purchase a pack of six. I did the math and that's almost an $80 annual expense I was not aware I was signing onto when I made this purchase. I'm not saying this wasn't a concession I wouldn't have been willing to make (again I was going to murder my little trouble maker do to lack of sleep) but it's a very unpleasant experience to find out about this vey regular upkeep expense only after I have already made my initial investment. So I'm hoping to give you all the information here by adding this review, it's a great product but it does have something of an upkeep cost. Make your purchase decision fully armed with this knowledge.

  Does what it is supposed to do

  For years my cat was using a gravity feeder, with dry food always available. When she became overweight and had to be put on a strict diet, it was essential to have an automatic feeder to take care of the feeding when I could not be home. This feeder has worked flawlessly for more than a year now. I do manually feed he wet food in the morning; the only thing that I can think that would make this better would be to have multiple schedules so that I could easily change the schedule if I would not be home in the morning, then change it back to the normal schedule when I'm back.

  The difference between fat cat vs rescue cat vs multiple animal settings is perfect.

  We previously had a generic "pet feeder" but the minimum portion may as well have been free feeding and our cat became obese. Then we adopted a rescue cat who was underweight but he wouldn't eat until our big girl cat would. So then we tried the chip reader feeders, but same problem, our rescue just wouldn't eat. Luckily we moved to a bigger home with stairs and they started exercising regularly. We then bought this unit and being able to accurately adjust their portions per meal and proper exercise they are now both ideal weight. Only thing I would recommend because it is a smaller unit (which also makes it easier to fit into the cats environment) is to set a weekly routine or reminder to restock.

  Great auto feeder!

  After spending more time than one should on researching auto feeders, decided on this one! And so far, it’s been really amazing! The lid is shut by two buttons that need to be pushed at the same time to access the food compartment. Our cat hasn’t tried to knock this over as we have it in a spot where that’s not possible. The food dispenses as scheduled and the back up battery feature is amazing. Another awesome feature is that if the power goes out and comes back on (or even if you unplug it), your settings remain the same! The power cord was braided and really nice!One thing we didn’t care for was the voice memo you can record. They recommend recording a silent clip but the silent recording is still audible and whatever you record is loud. If you’ve accidentally recorded a message like us and want to get rid of it, you can just long hold the voice button (should beep once) and then press the voice button quickly after the first beep (should then beep twice). This got rid of our message and we’re happier without it!
