  Easiest potty training tool

  We have three golden retrievers. One rescue that was already potty trained, then we fell in love and sought out the others. Our second was our first puppy and since we had no idea how to potty train a puppy, the bells were ordered. I’m not exaggerating when I say with both our 2nd and 3rd puppy, they were trained within 2 weeks. BUT. You have to be diligent in letting them outside every single time they touch the bells. Accident or not. It can feel like you’re constantly getting up and down, but it’s so worth it. We have them all over our house, but at first it was specifically just the doors that led to outside. We added the rest once we were positive they understood, so no matter where we are, they can tell us it’s time to go potty. I won’t ever potty train a dog another way.

  The bells work great

  The bells are great, but the dog is broken. He has learned how to ring the bells, but not always to go outside. He rings it if he wants water. He rings it if he's glad he found a toy. Sometimes I don't know why he rings it. But the bells are great so if you like hearing bells all the time, you should definitely get them!

  No bowl

  Pictures made it seem like the product came with a travel bowl that I was also paying for. Deception said the bowl was a “free gift” and I did not receive the bowl at all. Bells look great though we’ll see how they hold up. Still a little mad about not getting my travel bowl thou 😒

  My puppy got his nail caught in the bell twice.

  My havanese is now 10 mo old and was trained to ring the bells. However his nail got caught in the bell and I had to free him. Another time he got his nail caught again and cried but was able to pull it out himself. He is afraid to use it. I am trying to get him to use his nose to ring it.

  Did not work for us

  Or maybe they worked too well? The puppy LOVES the bells. Loves them so much he will never, ever, EVER stop ringing them. He sat by the door, grabbed the end, and just rang the heck out of the bells. I couldn't stand it after about 30 minutes so I took them down. He's almost 7 months old but he's never learned to give us an alert, like a bark, to indicate that he needs to go out. It seemed like they were going to work the first day--he just rang them when he was by the door anyway, which meant he needed to go out. Good deal! But the second day? They became a favorite toy. Maybe it is just my luck with dogs. About 20 years ago I trained another puppy to ring a bell when he needed to go out. It worked as planned for about a week, and after that it turned into ringing for attention, or just a fun thing to do when bored. The current puppy loves to make a lot of noise. He has squeaky toys that he'll squeeze over and over and over while he runs around the house. So, maybe the bells aren't right for these kinds of dogs. Fortunately, my pup is old enough that he's getting more predictable and we aren't going outside so much anymore. I'll see if I can gift these bells to someone with a less "vigorous" puppy.
