Very strong and works for heavy bumper plastic

I was a little sceptical because the bottom of my bumper had one metal brace at each end holding the bottom portion on.Well after i removed the metal braces and screws i realized just how much weight was being held andc thought i was svrewed.I applied the jbweld and affixed masking tape to hold the repair in place with weight off the area. I used a rope arrangement to take off the weight bearing on the area first or the tape would be useless. The masking tape concerned me because i was not sure if that would adhere permanently to the jbweld fix.Well after an hour the jbweld was dry. Well sooner but i waited an hour. Took off tape without issue. It turned into super hard plastic and held the bumper in place like it was one piece. Unbelievable !I did not sand or prepare edges of cracks first either.I did however put jbweld inside crack and then liberally on front and back of crack to create a cocoon. And yes then the tape to flatten the glue and hold repair in place. This really works and worth every penny.Small note. I had my bumper off when i did this above.I was painting it at the time otherwise i would have just applied it. Then i would have still used a rope system to hold in place and braces underneath to hold the weight of bumper**Nearly one year later. Ive noticed people have chosen my response as helpful. My car bumper has gone through the winter driving over pot holes heavy winds. And still holding on very securely.Thank you again jbweld. You saved me and others a thousand dollars.

Great to use With Fiberglass Cloth

The only plastic repair product that is better than this, is JB Weld plastic epoxy putty (easier to work with because it is putty). But if you want a super-strong thin plastic repair, this works better than other products. Buy some fiberglass cloth from the auto parts store and "glue" the cloth to the back of the plastic sheet with this product. Be sure to wear gloves, because you will make a mess and never get it off of your hands. And don't try to move the cloth around after it is pressed into place; it with fray apart easily.

      Prettier than duct tape

[Update 02/24/2021: It's been almost two years now and my car is still holding together. I'm sure I just jinxed myself by saying that, but at least it lasted this long.]Due to my car having a perilous rendezvous with an object stronger than itself, my car's bumper cover was half torn off. All the plastic tabs had broken off, along with various pins. I found all but one of the broken tabs and since I had zero dollars to take it in for body work, decided to DIY replacement after watching Youtube videos.I admit, I had my doubts about this. The product that was supposed to be the really good stuff came in a giant tub and I didn't need that much, nor did I have that much to spend on it at the time. The reviews on this seemed pretty good and it's not like I had much to lose, given that I couldn't drive my car until the bumper was fixed.I followed the directions and reassembled the pieces. The long set time was helpful in that I didn't have to rush to get things just right. However, it was a bit too long because I wound up having to hold each piece onto the car for about 15 minutes, since clamping wasn't an option. It was still a tad tacky the next morning, so I waited until that evening to reassemble my car. Unless you opened the trunk, you'd never know the bumper cover was glued and screwed together.I can't believe it's still holding two months later. Sure, it could fall off tomorrow, but it's actually holding and I can drive my car without having it duct-taped together. I don't know whether it will hold up to three digit temperatures now that summer is coming, but I'll know if the cover starts flapping behind me when I go down the highway.Definitely wear gloves when doing this. I should be wearing gloves, but I never do. Which is how I learned that this will stain your fingers for at least a week, even after multiple showers, scrubbing, Goo Gone, and other attempts at removing. Nail polish remover worked the best, but my fingers were still stained for a while. For the tab that had a missing piece, I used part of a plastic handle from a paint sponge because that was the first thing I saw. Naturally, after the car had been pieced back together and everything cured, I found the missing tab piece. I briefly considered cutting off the plastic part I had kludged together, then decided to not risk angering the gods of plastic adhesive.

Repaired Cheap Tabs on a Chevy Bumper

I used this to reinforce and repair my bumper tabs on my Chevy Sonic. So far, it is holding and it made it stronger. No issues.

Skeptical that it will hold on polypropylene plastic

I used this on a polypropylene chair arm and I'm skeptical it will hold. I did a test area of a small 1 inch blob on the back and I was able to use a chisel the next day as a lever to break the seam and pop it off. It was completely smooth and didn't hold to the poly. For the actual application I roughed up the area with a dremel grinding bit and used some solvent to clean to clean the area so I hope that helped. The bonder was sticky when mixed but a little runny I thought (closer to pancake mix than peanut butter), so to get it to settle properly I positioned the chair arm with the backside up and the area I was applying (on the back) as level as possible. When I would apply it it would flow somewhat it but only went where I wanted it because of the way I had positioned it.The sister product 50133 (tan) says on the J-B Weld website that it works on polypropylene. This one however does not say that but since it seems to be nearly the same in every other way but the color so I thought maybe it was an oversight. I wrote them and never heard back, and so I decided to order anyway. If they write back or the arm breaks off or there are new developments I'll update the review. Also one more thing: It doesn't have a strong smell like a lot of other products like this, which is good!Update 2018-04-27: It broke again right at the seam where the black glue meets the polypropylene. It barely adhered at all, it was a clean break. I have yet to hear back from the company about whether this glue supports polypropylene but empirical results say not really. Perhaps there's an adhesion promoter that would help, but instructions don't say anything about that.
