Basic Dictionary

4.0 out of 5.0 by Paul on January 8, 2019
When I bought my first Kindle Fire HD, it came with a couple of nice Oxford Dictionaries and they were pretty comprehensive. When I purchased my HD8, those dictionaries were not included and I eventually got the Mirriam-Webster app. It is a good dictionary and easy to use. I don't use a dictionary a lot, but find that this one is not quite as comprehensive as the Oxford app and can say that only because I have only used it a few times since I downloaded it. It serves my purposes and I feel it does what I need it to do, give me basic definitions and information about words.
Not so well for an Android

3.0 out of 5.0 by Bill33 on January 30, 2019
Obtained this item for my new Fire HD 10. It was in the Amazon Fire Compatible apps listing... BUT... after two look-ups (which worked well), it stopped working all together. Tried many times (and after a software update came through), even it didn't fix the issue. Looking at the item more closely, it doesn't mention Android usage. If, like myself, you are a word hound... seek an Android version for the Fire HD's. I gave it a fourth star because, it may have been my mistake, as it did work...twice.
excellent app

Understand and say the words you don't know

4.0 out of 5.0 by Charles Martin on June 6, 2017
Great to use and convenient. Often I see a word and just skip over it when I don't know the meaning. Now I get the definition with a click away. I no longer roll my eyes when I see an unknown word and hear my teacher say, "look it up"
The Best Dictionary App!

For more than my 40 years this is the best go to dictionary! App works great! Slightly large file size so beware. Otherwise I strongly recommend this app.
it's good but not great

3.0 out of 5.0 by Mikesmom on February 20, 2015
I like that it provides clear, concise definitions and that you can click on an icon to hear the pronunciation of some of the words. I don't like that it doesn't allow for misspellings. That may have something to do with the spell check on my phone, though. I also would prefer to be able tp hear the pronunciation of most, if not all, of the words. The paid (ad-free) version may have all of the things that I'm missing but I don't want to pay for it if I can just Google it and get the word I'm looking for anyway.

for some reason would be nice. I tried 2 words

3.0 out of 5.0 by Kindle Customer on July 24, 2017
Doesn't have archaic definitions, which, for some reason would be nice. I tried 2 words, that weren't found. These words I got from older bible commentaries, which I am spending the most time in, I would say. But yet, its still awesome to be able to look up a word.
